Haiku: Nagoya Temples
F.L. Blumberg
Shiba Inus bark
at the grand Buddha-sama—
the owner abashed.
Bamboo poles clatter,
Birds squeak their last of the day—
Wind has final say.
The camphor leaf shakes;
exuvia underneath—
death mask clings to life.
Burning fast night-through,
For both pilgrim and pathless—
Hid guardian light.
